These are some timings for soap opera trailers I have seen on television.
Eastenders trailer, BBC One at 8pm after Doctor Who
Neighbours trailer, Channel 5 at 7.20pm after Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory
Knowing the timings for these trailers gives us information on the types of audiences that view soap trailers. This means we can use this information to work out our target audience for our trailer, as we will know the common times they are shown and who they are seen by. These times may also be the peak times soap opera trailers work succesfully in drawing the audience in, convincing them to watch it. This is also useful for our soap as we can follow similar techniques and make our trailer conventional.
